Shots suck

It's been a minute since we've updated here. Elsie is smiling on cue now, a VERY therapeutic thing after a tough end-of-the-year day at school. At 7 weeks she also started sleeping through the night, or at least 6-8 hours at a time at night. She's a bit of a mama's girl; Jill always seems to be able to calm her down when she's fussy. She's also hiding golf balls in her cheeks.

We went to another Red's game on Saturday. She really did a good job: nursed when she fussed and didn't get distracted by the noise / stimuli. Otherwise slept most of the time, and entertained the ladies behind us. Sorry, no pictures of the last Red's outing. This is from a previous one where the weather was much nicer.

Elsie had her 2 month checkup yesterday with Dr. Reilly. She weighed in at 13 lbs, 10 oz, and 13.5 in. Dr. Reilly described her as "solid." She's definitely a healthy eater!

She got 4 vaccinations: Hepatitis B (round 2), DPT, Polio, & HIB. WHAT A TROOPER! She screamed while getting poked, but went back to being her normal pre-feeding crabby self after that. Jill fed her in the car and she was fine. Even let us go to Play It Again Sports & a bike shop on Colerain.

Tangent: If anyone's selling a bike, or knows someone that is, let me know.

Around 8:30, she must have felt the effect of the shots. She cried longer and harder than I've ever heard her cry. She was already well fed too, so that wasn't going to help. Jill was getting a bath ready (Elsie loves baths) and asked me to hold her, so I held her so her cheek was touching mine, then bounced and "shhh'd" her. This helped. And eventually she fell asleep. I had to coax her into letting me lay down too. Jill replaced my shhh'ing with the noisemaker, and we both fell asleep around 9; exactly what both of us needed.
